An Olympian Mindset Towards Your Goal

It must be nice to train someone for the Olympics and I don't
mean for the bragging rights as a trainer but because the the
determination of the athlete.
I'm sure someone training for the Olympics listens to EVERYTHING
the trainer has to say and follows it exactly as told.
There is something about that level of commitment from an elite
athlete that must be great for a trainer or coach to have a client
like that.
There are two factors here:
#1. You have someone who is dedicated to listen and follow a plan
#2. You have someone who is giving the right plan
DETERMINATION and DEDICATION doesn't always lead to
results IF YOU are not following the right plan for your goal.
Most of the time it's lazy client's that just "I want to get in shape",
and you know what that means...
try half-way, go through the motions, follow most of the advice,
or follow none of the advice and just show up for workouts.
People used to say, "That guy Brian only likes to train bodybuilders."
And I'll tell you I was offended - first off, it was a out-of-shape lawyer
I had trained (if you call it that) and when he showed up. His lame
excuse for his lack of results. He blamed me for "not liking"
training him. Well, he was right - I didn't just not like it I hated every
minute of it. How can you train a lazy slug to do anything?
I'm not a hand-holder and sure I was getting paid to do it but, it was
an embarrassment - as this guy looked worse off then when he started.
Or I would go to the gym at 5:00am to meet him and he would not show
up.
But what upset me most was he made it sound like I didn't know how
to train "regular people". While it really wasn't that - it's just that regular
people don't REALLY want results.

started working out I took a lot of bad advice and still was seeing "some"
results but as I investing in trainers it helped but when I started training
people that were entering shows and helping them get on fitness magazine
covers is when I learned what worked best!
