positive steps in the right direction...

I sent out an email this week about "Everyone Being a Winner" if they get on stage and enter
a physique contest because the physique they walk away with and take home is truly the prize.

I went into more detail about it - and the essence of the email was to say - what do you plan to do with all of the trophies and magazine covers once you get them?

Then I explained how someone like Lori-Ann went from doing my show and not winning the first time and feeling a little down to eventually coming back to win but I kept explaining there is a bigger picture to all of the process of doing shows.

During this time she created her own exercise routine and started a boot camp class and now creating her own product - check it out here

I'd like to share one of the responses from that email:

"Thank you so much for this email and this message - this is EXACTLY what I needed to hear right now, as I'm experiencing the disappointment of not placing as well as I had hoped in my last show. I've started reflecting a lot over the past couple days and started thinking about why I entered these competitions - or rather, shows - in the first place. I want to make a name for myself in the fitness industry and eventually grow to become a fitness icon. I decided to do a show to gain some exposure, start networking, and get my name out there. Then I got so far wrapped up in the show prep process that I lost sight of my original goals.

Pursuing a trophy in a subjective contest truly is a selfish endeavor that is sure to gain you recognition but won't get you anywhere in the long run. You have to hustle, work hard, promote yourself, stay focused and know what you want. This is why I enjoyed your seminar on Sunday morning after Fitness Atlantic - it was a great reality check about what it takes to make a name for yourself and build your own brand in the fitness industry. Thanks for putting this kind of information out there. Thanks for encouraging your competitors to think bigger than the show and focus on goals beyond just competing.  I don't really want to win a trophy; I want to inspire people and help them live healthier lives. Competing in countless fitness shows is not going to help me achieve that, so now I am planning to focus my energies elsewhere and take more positive steps in the right direction.

Your message could not be timelier as I start to re-think all my goals and ambitions.
Thank you for sharing this!"

Please don't misunderstand - I really love shows - but regardless of placement in a show it is the experience you gain that has value to others who also want to get in shape. I do care about EVERYONE'S experience and not just the people who win the event.

Entering a physique contest inspires you to push yourself to a level you never would normally do just to have a easy goal to back out of - like going to the beach or wearing a dress.

Please think about what Lori-Ann did with her experience.

You can get her program here

It is the workout she does from her experience entering shows and staying focused on the bigger picture.

The trophies you win over years of entering shows are a great accomplishment and achievement but so are the results you get and provide for others.

I hope to see you at the next show and talk more about people who have some excellent programs to help you be the best person you can become.

Thank You,

Brian
