Hi,
Today I was thinking about this past weekend and the review of the overall event.
Many times the reviews, opinions and comments only come from a contestant's point of view which matters but there is another view many never
consider.
Contestant things we consider:
- Was it on time
- Was it organized
- Was there enough room backstage
- Were contestants treated well
The best reviews can
come from people who don't know anything about our industry.
We forget many times that we are producing an event for the audience.
Think about this for a minute. When booking out Mohegan Sun the question they have for the producer is pretty simple. "How many people does it draw?"
How many shows do you attend that have a ton of empty seats?
Also most shows only pull an audience that are the friends and family of the contestants but how many just sell out from people that want to be enjoy it without knowing people in the show.
A great draw to this event was the venue because if they did get bored they can always go walk around and
gamble.
Something funny happened with this show and I like the comments I received from it.
I hang out at a cigar shop in Orange CT.
The past four years I've gone the guys at the shop sorta knew just a little of what I do yet this year they wanted to attend because the show was at Mohegan
Sun.
So I see them show up for the finals dressed very nice as many people in the audience did this year.
They stayed the entire show right to the end!
Yesterday I saw Nari the shop owner and here is what he had to say:
"It was very
good but long" (3.5 hours for a show is great but long for a normal person)
"I picked all the same winners and was going to text you the notes in my phone, here look # was so was beautiful, # was incredible, and this one was amazing."
"We were very impressed with everything."
