Don't Stop

Published: Thu, 03/16/17

Hey,

I was looking back for an article I wrote a while back saying
"What happens when you quit?"

Of course nothing happens when you quit...

But it was more about getting people to think of the reasons they justify stopping prep
and working towards any goal.

Many times people quit when they fell they are not ready enough to win. People can find really good excuses to stop something.

When you set a goal of entering the show and then back out and start eating junk food did it affect anyone else? Usually not unless your friends and family already purchased tickets and are excited to watch you or they just feel obligated to watch you.

When your fiends and family know how hard you worked they will go to a show to watch and show you support. Now what happens? If your friends buy tickets the level of commitment you have is much higher.

In 1992 I entered my first show, I paid the entry fee and went around the gym and told people I was entering and asked if they wanted to attend. I called the promoter and asked if I could sell tickets and he asked me how many do I need. I said I will start with 50 and then maybe more... at the time I was 20 turning 21 years old. I was really nervous and not confident at all.

I just knew if I had people going to watch me I would never back out.

Selling tickets felt a lot like when someone asks me to buy a stag party ticket and I really don't want to go and out of respect I just buy one. They ask if you want to buy a stag party ticket for so-and-so and if that person is a close friend you just say "sure" then they tell you it's 50 bucks and your like... what, oh okay.

I think that is how most people feel about going to watch us as we enter these shows. Thing is I'm not joking... this is why having a show at Mohegan is so important. People like to go to Mohegan Sun.

This is a major reason I try to make the Fitness Atlantic event even more special and rent an incredible venue at Mohegan Sun. It is important to make the experience of the audience a fun time.

When I entered my first show and sold nearly two hundred tickets to friends, family and people at the gym I knew I couldn't back out.

A quote on that is:
"I've come too far to stop now."

That is the point you want to get to - over the hump. The halfway point.

You know, like getting to Weds and knowing the weekend is even closer.

Saturday will be 5 weeks to Fitness Atlantic at Mohegan Sun.

Let's take a look back.

Here is a 49 Page Report includes a ton of photos, results, and information on this year's Fitness Atlantic event. You could open this on your phone and look or download it to your computer and keep it.

In 2017 being back at Mohegan Sun for the third year we will work even harder at tweaking the show and making it run as smooth as possible.

As usual the first time at any venue things are tough because it's new.

The more you do something over and over the easier things seem to become.

Working on making the stage better and being able to do our opening number and parade of gowns really special.

Always strive for perfection. Don't forget how far you've come!

Have a Great Day,

Brian
