Good Morning,
I always think what would the Perfect Show look like... from both a contestant and audience view.
Of course it would be at an amazing venue and that would be at Mohegan Sun so after years of trying we booked that! Check #1 VENUE
Next would be an incredible stage, lighting and sound show. We do very good but can always
be better.
I go often to Mohegan Sun to meet with a production team about the stage and lights. I'm always trying to make the show more and more professional. Each year production improves.
Check #2 Stage, Music and Lighting
Stage production is always limited by budget and when you look at some of the inspirations I
have like Victoria Secret Fashion Show, Trans Siberian Orchestra and of course KISS, who were
my first concert I ever attended, I think about each of these show's productions which are millions
of dollars and how can we make it very impressive.
There are 3 ways a promoter increases a contest budget.
1. ENTRY FEES
One is getting more people to enter the show early. I do believe that this has a limit. You can
have too many competitors which means the contestants get more rushed across the stage.
In most events now the promoters are trying to get as many people as possible to enter and
the main budget is entry fees alone. I have always been taught that entry fees help cover the venue
and the trophy expenses and not to profit off entry fees. (Believe it or not I spend every penny of entry fee money on production.)
Personally I think the perfect number is around 150 athletes for a 3 hour show. Last year we had 150 and the production was spot on while the year before that we had 208 and it had to be run much faster.
2. TICKET SALES
Second way to increase a show budget is selling tickets. Advertising ticket sales for a physique
event is not easy. For the most part every audience member personally knows someone in the
show. The audience is made up mainly of friends and family members. How do you increase the
audience is by contestants promoting they are entering. Athlete Banners are the best for this.
3. PROMOTE THE ATHLETES
Allowing athletes to have custom banners created and they promote these banners on their social
media. When athletes are promoted they could bring 10 people or more per entry while when
they don't tell anyone they are entering they just bring a spouse and sell one ticket.
4. SPONSORS
Third would be sponsors of the show. Companies sponsoring a show is always helpful. Part of the
issue with sports nutrition companies sponsoring shows is they want to sell and move product. The
thing is events like this are consumer events and not distributer events. This is why you might have seen many large shows become expos and the focus is the expo and not so much the stage event.
I'm not a fan of Expo Events. Expo events need to see mass amounts of attendees so they add martial arts, cheerleading, and multiple events that draw big numbers of people. Eventually this large expo show doesn't necessarily help a stage production and they end up with take anyone's money to pay for the large expo hall. This isn't the type of event I like to attend as I want to focus on the show itself.
GROW YOUR FANS
You guys know that!
Growing your Instagram and Facebook Fan pages is so important.
I don't need to tell you that.
When people like yourself grow a fan base in anything as a personal brand or as a company you then have customers. This is the same for me as for you.
This to me is why the stage and production is so important. You need to be able to grow a personal brand. You need a big venue, a great stage and lights, and to be promoted.
When you get a Custom Banner for the show tag #fitnessatlantic so we share it.
It is important you grow a personal brand and the type of images you share need to be the most
professional as possible.
We have the best photography team!
We are in this together. Document your workouts and diet as you enter.
Let people share your journey. Engage people.
We build the show up and we help build your brand.
It's important you leverage the show for your own popularity.
