Are you motivated?

Published: Mon, 04/03/17

I heard this quote a long time ago and it always comes to mine the final
weeks before a show:

“If it weren't for the last minute, nothing would get done.”

I know of a few people I see on social that are talking about entering the
Fitness Atlantic show that still have not yet entered.

Should I send them reminders?

Puts me in a weird spot...

I don't want to chase people.

I'm like okay?

You keep hash tagging #fitnessatlantic yet you haven't registered?

Yet, as I write this email I don't think that over the next four weeks there is much
convincing I could do to recruit last minute NEW people to enter?

It's like we have past the decision making time... at four weeks.

Some people just may not have went on and paid the Entry Fee
yet they know they still kinda do plan to get on stage.

Maybe these people just are not on the email list and haven't seen the billion reminders?

The last day to enter before a $100 late fee gets added is April 15th.

Honestly I personally hate adding the late fee but I think it is important.

Once the late fee kicks in there is always a couple people that email in saying, "I didn't know!!!"

Things like Early Bird, Limited Amounts, Expiration Dates, Late Fees, Price Increases
all help motivate people to take action.

After a while these types of promotions become the norm? I don't want to penalize people.

I once told someone that paying the entry fee might be like paying a credit card bill and
people do it when it is due. Why pay early right?

I look at things like Spartan Race for example and they stagger the entry fees with rates and
expirations and limited amounts. The earlier people take action and enter the more they benefit.

The opposite is if people don't really know until later they may actually be punished?

I try more of a different approach with emailing people about the reasons that entering early
helps you with your confidence and prep because you know you are all in.

When people are wishy washy they have a cheat meal here or there then they postpone
entering because they "might not be ready." Yeah right we all see the garbage food they
just posted on Instagram as they talk about bulking and building muscle? I didn't know you
could build muscle with pure sugar?

Some people might just be burnt out and did too many shows and need a break. Thing is
they are putting on fat - if they are okay with fat that's cool but it isn't muscle. Let's just call
it what it is... it's not muscle - that's fat.

Now if it's all in good fun then it's funny but if they are serious it's scary.

My job is to start motivating people at the end of last year to prep for April.

Hype up the show at the end of the year  and hope that people start prep around Jan
and get in a good 12 weeks of training and nutrition.

At this point you are in or out...

Now is the time - only 14 more days to enter:

If you have entered next thing is to tell friends to get tickets now for good seats:

I'm not better than anyone else and if I took my shirt off right now I'd look like a sloppy mess.
I'll tell you what though not going to see me bragging about being muscular and jacked and
taking pictures.

I'm just saying the people who have been training like crazy and counting calories and making
sure they are cooking up chicken eat night - that takes commitment.

It's not really cool to lack motivation? Or is it now?

It's a lot cooler to be motivated, determined and focused.

Motivation is very hard to give people.

Either you have it or you don't.

26 Days Out,

Brian
