Hey,
Twelve weeks out will be here before you know it!
People always say to me, "You must be crazy busy now?" and I'm not really...
most of the event preparation takes place right after the last show. All I can do to get better
is try and encourage more people to enter and not give up on reaching their goals.
I stress sometimes about the entry number but what I do to feel better to focus on is to match this years schedule to last and look at the numbers. It really helps stay on track when you have a plan.
Right after the last show is when I have to get a contract for the next year, think
about what could have been done better and reorganize those parts of the event.
Then I get a dry erase board and check each thing as it is done.
When you plan a new show at a new venue that is when things are way more complicated. When you repeat the same place, same show staff, and same production team things get smoother.
If you have been at this show the past few years you've seen the stage, lights and
music all improve along with backstage organization and production.
This is all similar to a first time person entering a show.
The first year there are so many things
you didn't know. Then after entering a show the next year you just follow the same plan and make some improvements to try and make yourself better. People usually do improve year after year.
I'll run through the list with you...
