Hope you have better
days that I do...
I'm sitting here drinking black coffee and eating my eggwhites and oatmeal.
My usual morning thinking about writing an email and wondering how do I get people on stage in
April...
Thinking about what demotivates people. How is so easy for them to become uninspired...
I'm always competing against EXCUSES.
Searching out 150 people to get on
stage in April is a lot of work... I'll give you the best venue, best lighting and music and the most organized show you can enter BUT that doesn't give people motivation.
There was a girl that did the show for the first time last year. She made huge changes
in her body and went out and accomplished
her goal of doing it. She looked great but missed making the Top 10, Top 5 or getting a PRO Card the first show.
Take her off the list???
So why wouldn't she do ever do it again?
Why would she
feel beat up and let down?
Other people.... That is why. Other people ruined her entire experience.
What really happened was people said things that triggered something in her head that made her think she doesn't really want to do the
show again. For example say a parent tells her, "You don't need to compete and by the way you should have won!"
How does that really help anyone become a great fitness model? Someone doesn't go from not making the Top 10 to being the Pro Card
winner? If anyone is gifted a Pro Card how are they ever going to be successful?
Why is winning all that matters? Yes it is a contest I understand that but for more than half of the contestants it is a one time deal.
So they
STOP competing after the first time and by no means truly deserved to win. Yet what they accomplished was incredible and truly amazing. Think about how many people fail at losing a few pounds. I work in gyms and most people look the same for years and years.
First, I'll just say it is confidence that makes people better on stage and people get better and better as they do more events and walk out on stage. That is something you just can't prepare for without experience.
So right away it is very likely most people place higher the next time they do a show depending who shows up. I can't stand it when people who don't make the Top 10 feel like they lost because the goal is to keep getting physically better and better.
I have a buddy in another industry and last week he sent me a
message on Facebook and asked, "Can you help me with supplements?" I asked him back if he was talking about protein powder, vitamins, fat burners and he replied back, "Is that what I need?"
Then he called me and said he really needed to lose 25 pounds as soon as possible. He told me that about ten years ago he drank shakes
and dropped 25 pounds. He said he is 6'2" and 295 pounds and he said he feels unhealthy.
I told him that he really needs to change his eating habits and lose 2 pounds a week every week by making progressive changes. Yet, he was still determined to only drink shakes and drop his 25 pounds. I couldn't talk him out of it. He wants to lose weight
FAST.
Sometimes you can't convince people even though people know that isn't the right way to accomplish something.
Remember there is no easy way to do anything big. Sometimes accomplishments take years yet that
is what makes it worth it.
Sometimes the "not-to-sure", I'll wait for my motivation to come back, maybe next time,
that can change in ONE SECOND. There is no quick fix to get in super shape.
Keep your motivation by training with someone and holding you to a commitment you made to yourself.
Winning shows and earning Pro Cards can take years but that is the fun part of this. When people progressively get better year after year they compete for themselves. These
people are not looking for the quick approval of others and Instagram likes. Most make the most successful Pros as well and go to Worlds and don't win the first time but keep going back until they finally do win.
True winners know the best results take commitment and patience.
Motivation is kinda messed up if you think about it...
Motivation comes out of nowhere and it is going to comes and goes.
How can you
stay motivated? Find a way to keep you committed like PASSION.
Too many set backs and you have too many reasons to quit.
Stay the course,
Brian
PS, Below is a video of my FAVORITE division in the show.
Transformation is about CHANGE.
It is NOT a contest against other people.
Take a couple minutes and watch the video.
